The Board of Directors of the Pakistan Textile Council (PTC) comprises Pakistan’s most distinguished industrial and business leaders, representing the entire textile and apparel value chain. Under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Fawad Anwar and Vice-Chairman Mr. Musadaq Zulqarnain, the Board brings together leading exporters and corporate executives with deep expertise in manufacturing, sustainability, finance, energy, and global markets. In line with PTC’s role as the national think tank and advocacy platform for the textile and apparel sector, the Board provides strategic direction on export competitiveness, policy reform, and long-term sustainable growth, while engaging closely with government and international stakeholders to strengthen Pakistan’s position in global value chains.

MR. FAWAD ANWAR - MD. AL KARAM TEXTILE MILLS LTD
CHAIRMAN – PAKISTAN TEXTILE COUNCIL

Mr. Fawad Anwar is a leading industrialist and respected business leader with over three decades of experience spanning Pakistan’s textile, retail, energy, and financial sectors. He currently serves as Chairman of the Pakistan Textile Council (PTC), where he provides strategic direction on export competitiveness, industrial policy, and the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s largest export-oriented industry. As Managing Director of Al Karam Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd.—one of Pakistan’s foremost vertically integrated textile groups with a strong international footprint—Mr. Anwar has led the organization since 2010, after serving on its board for more than a decade. Under his leadership, Al Karam has strengthened its position across the value chain, with a continued focus on quality, innovation, and responsible manufacturing.
Beyond textiles, Mr. Anwar holds several prominent board and leadership roles, including Board Member of the State Bank of Pakistan, Chairman of Al-Karam Studio, and Director at the Pakistan Retail Council, alongside directorships across energy, food, and real-estate ventures. He also chairs the Fayaz Anwar Foundation, reflecting his commitment to social development and community uplift. An alumnus of Drexel University (MBA) and Temple University (BBA) in the United States, Mr. Anwar brings a strong blend of global business perspective and local industry insight, and contributes actively to national economic discourse and institutional reform.

MR. MUSADAQ ZULQARNAIN, T.I. - CHAIRMAN INTERLOOP
VICE-CHAIRMAN – PAKISTAN TEXTILE COUNCIL

Musadaq Zulqarnain is the Founder and Chairman of Interloop Limited; the largest apparel goods company on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, among the top exporters of Pakistan, and the only textile company from Pakistan on the main Morgan Stanley Frontier Market Index (MSCI). He is also the Founder and Chairman of Interloop Holdings and its subsidiaries. Besides the flagship company of the group, Musadaq has established 23 organizations in Pakistan and abroad covering Logistics, Dairy & Dairy Products, Packaging, Apparel, Health Care, IT & Public Service. A development enthusiast and philanthropist, he serves on the board of Karandaaz; a not-for-profit organization promoting financial inclusion, and has been associated with The Citizens Foundation; Pakistan’s largest not-for-profit organization in the education sector. He is also the President of Interloop Welfare Trust and Chairperson of Lyallpur Literary Council.
Musadaq is a Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and Member of the Policy Board Ministry of Planning & Development, Govt. of Pakistan. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Pakistan Textile Council. In recognition of his contributions towards generating employment opportunities and his philanthropic endeavours, the Government of Pakistan has conferred upon him one of the highest civilian awards; Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Musadaq has training in mechanical engineering and an honorary doctorate from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.

MR. MUHAMMAD ALI TABBA – CHAIRMAN LUCKY GROUP

Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba is the Chief Executive of Lucky Cement Limited, having succeeded his late father in 2005, and also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Yunus Textile Mills Ltd (YTM), a state-of-the-art home textile manufacturer with subsidiaries in North America and Europe. Simultaneously leading both organizations, he also provides strategic direction to ICI Pakistan Limited as its Vice Chairman. He began his professional career with the Yunus Brothers Group (YBG) in 1991, a leading Pakistani family conglomerate with diversified interests spanning building materials, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, textiles, automotive, and real estate development. He has previously served as Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), a prominent private-sector business advocacy forum, and currently holds the positions of Chairman of Lucky Motors Corporation Limited (formerly KIA Lucky Motors), Lucky Electric Power Company Limited, All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), and Pakistan Textile Council (PTC), a think tank, advocacy, and research-based organization.
In recognition of his leadership and contributions, Mr. Tabba was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010 and received the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Businessman of the Year Gold Medal Award for 2012–2013. Actively engaged in community welfare initiatives, he serves on the Boards of Governors of several renowned universities, institutions, and foundations and is Vice Chairman of the Aziz Tabba Foundation, a not-for-profit organization working extensively in social welfare, education, health, and housing. The Foundation operates two state-of-the-art hospitals in Karachi: the 170-bed Tabba Heart Institute (THI), a dedicated cardiac care hospital, and the 100-bed Tabba Kidney Institute (TKI), a specialized nephro-urological treatment facility. In further recognition of his outstanding services to both business and social development in Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan awarded him the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2018.

MR. SHAHZAD SALEEM – CEO NISHAT CHUNIA LIMITED

Mr. Shahzad Saleem is a visionary entrepreneur who has played a transformative role in Pakistan’s textile and corporate sectors. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Karachi in 1987 and later completed an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where he was placed on the Dean’s Honor List. In 1990, he founded Nishat Chunian by establishing its first spinning mill, laying the foundation for what has since become one of Pakistan’s leading textile conglomerates. Today, Nishat Chunian Limited operates 12 state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across three locations, employs over 8,000 professionals, and specializes in spinning, weaving, and premium home textiles. Its retail arm, The Linen Company (TLC), launched in 2016, has set new benchmarks in the domestic market with international-quality bed linen products. The company consistently ranks among Pakistan’s top three textile exporters and is recognized for its financial strength and unblemished track record.
Beyond business, Mr. Saleem is deeply committed to education and social development. He oversees the Nishat High School and is the visionary behind the Saleem Memorial Hospital, a 350-bed, multi-specialty not-for-profit hospital established in 2020 to provide high-quality subsidized healthcare. He has also served on the boards of leading institutions, including a 23-year tenure at MCB, where he played a key role in its London Stock Exchange listing and the landmark $900 million strategic transaction with Maybank Malaysia. A proud LUMS alumnus, he has served as Founder President of the LUMS Alumni Association and as a member of the LUMS Board of Trustees.

Mr. Yaqoob Ahmed is a Board Director of the Pakistan Textile Council and the Chairman and Founder of Artistic Milliners, one of the world’s largest vertically integrated denim manufacturers and Pakistan’s leading denim exporter. Established in 1949, Artistic Milliners has grown under his leadership into a globally respected enterprise, operating across spinning, weaving, garmenting, and finishing, with a workforce of over 11,000 professionals spread across a state-of-the-art manufacturing footprint of more than 165,000 square meters. Over the past decade alone, the Group has generated more than US$3 billion in foreign exchange earnings, making a significant contribution to Pakistan’s export economy. Mr. Ahmed is widely recognised for his entrepreneurial vision and steady, disciplined growth strategy, earning prestigious honours including “Businessman of the Year” and the Prime Minister’s Best Export Performance Award.
Beyond textiles, he is a strong advocate of sustainability and innovation, leading investments in renewable energy through Artistic Energy and promoting regenerative agriculture through Milliners Organic and AM Regen. A committed philanthropist, he actively supports healthcare institutions such as Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and Aga Khan University Hospital, while also funding community water projects in Karachi. Deeply passionate about his craft, Mr. Ahmed believes that “denim is an art,” driven by continuous R&D, innovation in fashion, credible partnerships, and long-term thinking. His business philosophy—grounded in integrity, reliability, and hands-on leadership—continues to shape Artistic Milliners’ success and Pakistan’s global standing in denim manufacturing

MR. REHMAN NASEEM – CEO FAZAL GROUP

Mr. Rehman Naseem is the Chief Executive Officer of Fazal Group, one of Pakistan’s largest and most vertically integrated textile conglomerates. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University, New York, and returned to Pakistan in 1991 to join the family business, where he has since led its modernization and strategic expansion. Under his leadership, Fazal Group has evolved into a diversified, technology-driven enterprise with operations spanning the complete textile value chain, including cotton ginning, spinning, weaving, towel manufacturing, and global trading, alongside agricultural ventures through Fazal Farms. Today, the Group operates 400,000 spindles, 10,000 open-end rotors, 22,000 doubling spindles, and a modern weaving division comprising 716 air-jet looms from leading global manufacturers, supported by a rapidly expanding terry towel business. Fazal Group produces approximately 168,000 tons of yarn and 156 million meters of woven fabric annually, employs over 13,000 people, and recorded exports of Rs. 34 billion with a consolidated turnover of Rs. 138 billion in FY 2024–25.
Mr. Naseem’s strategic focus is on value-added growth, technological upgradation, and sustainability, including expansion of the towel division, entry into technical textiles, development of garment manufacturing, and a 10 MW solar power project. Beyond corporate leadership, he has served on several public-sector and institutional boards, including Mukhtar A. Sheikh Hospital, Nishtar Medical University Syndicate, Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Company, Punjab Thermal Power Company, Multan Electric Power Company, and the Punjab Industrial Estates Development Company, reflecting his broader commitment to industrial development, healthcare, and sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.

MR. SHAHID SOORTY – MD SOORTY ENTERPRISES (PVT.) LTD

Mr. Shahid Soorty is the Managing Director of Soorty Enterprises (Pvt.) Ltd. and a member of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Textile Council (PTC). He is widely regarded as a transformative leader in Pakistan’s textile industry, particularly in the field of denim manufacturing, where he has consistently set benchmarks for innovation, scale, and sustainability. Under his leadership, Soorty Enterprises has grown into one of South Asia’s largest vertically integrated denim producers, with operations spanning fabric manufacturing, garmenting, and advanced wet processing. Founded in the early 1980s, the company’s evolution has been shaped by Mr. Soorty’s singular focus on denim, including early investments in complex denim laundries and the introduction of advanced Tonello washing technology in Pakistan, which provided a significant competitive advantage. In 2007, he led the company’s backward integration into denim fabric manufacturing, further strengthening its global positioning.
Mr. Soorty’s vision centers on making denim both aspirational and fully sustainable, driven by continuous research and development, innovation, and customer-centric manufacturing. Beyond business, he is a respected philanthropist and has always supported initiatives on gender equality, diversity & inclusion, animal advocacy, environmental stewardship, leadership building and community wellness. MR. YOUSUF ABDULLAH – CEO SAPPHIRE FINISHING MILLS

Mr. Yousuf Abdullah is the Chief Executive Officer of Sapphire Finishing Mills Limited and a member of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Textile Council (PTC). He joined the Sapphire Group in 1995 after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the Group’s evolution toward value-added, technology-driven textile manufacturing. Under his visionary leadership, Sapphire Finishing Mills and its associated businesses, including Daletec, have emerged as industry leaders, recognized for operational excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness. Mr. Abdullah’s multidisciplinary expertise and strong strategic acumen have enabled the organization to consistently invest in advanced technologies, flexible manufacturing systems, and high-quality textile and apparel solutions tailored to international markets. He has been at the forefront of expanding Sapphire’s global footprint through strategic partnerships and forward-looking market positioning, while simultaneously strengthening its reputation for reliability and quality.

MR. MOHAMMED ZAKI BASHIR – CEO GUL AHMED TEXTILE MILLS

Mr. Mohammed Zaki Bashir is the Chief Executive Officer of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited, one of Pakistan’s most prominent and vertically integrated textile enterprises. He joined the organization in 2005 and became a member of its Board of Directors in 2008, bringing with him a strong global business perspective and a deep understanding of the textile value chain. Mr. Bashir holds a graduate degree in International Business from Regents Business School, United Kingdom, and is a Certified Director from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG). Under his leadership, Gul Ahmed has continued to strengthen its market position through operational excellence, brand development, and international expansion.
He is an active member of the Executive Committee of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and is also associated with leading global entrepreneurial networks, including the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) Pakistan. In addition, he serves as a Director on the Board of the Pakistan Textile Council, contributing to sector-wide policy advocacy and strategic direction. Mr. Bashir also sits on the boards of several group and international companies, including Gul Ahmed Power Company (Private) Limited, Ideas (Private) Limited, Gul Ahmed Holdings (Private) Limited, and overseas entities in the UAE, UK, and USA, reflecting his role in guiding the group’s global footprint and long-term growth strategy.

Shahzad Asghar Ali is the Chief Executive Officer of Style Textile, one of Pakistan’s leading vertically integrated textile and apparel manufacturing groups, with a strong global footprint. In this role, he provides strategic leadership focused on operational excellence, sustainability, innovation, and long-term competitiveness in international markets. Under his stewardship, Style Textile has reinforced its reputation as a reliable global supplier while making a significant contribution to Pakistan’s export economy and industrial employment. Born in Bahrain, Mr. Ali brings a strong international perspective to his leadership. He holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and is a U.S.-qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His professional background uniquely combines deep financial expertise with hands-on industrial leadership in one of the world’s most interconnected and competitive sectors.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Ali has played an active role in public policy and institutional development. He has served on key governmental and advisory platforms, including the Prime Minister’s Export Development Board and the Economic Advisory Board, contributing to national dialogue on export competitiveness, industrial growth, and economic reform. An active member and former Chapter Chair of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Mr. Ali is a strong advocate for inclusive economic growth, job creation, and responsible environmental practices.
